Abandoned Amusement Park.

These are the kind of photos I live for. How eerie are they?? This place is vacant, but I can still hear the faint laughter of children, the squeaking of the roller coaster tracks, creepy carousel music. Now it's just abandoned, left alone to deteriorate in its own oblivion. These photos capture a lost nostalgia that haunts me. I am very mystified by that idea that one day a place can be so loved and populated and then all of a sudden deserted. These photos manage to show a place totally forgotten, yet at the same they preserve the essence of what this place probably was at some point in time.

My wall of art

and a really terrible photo booth taken picture.

Speaking of...

My sister is actually one person who has major talent with a camera. She has a very design oriented eye, plus we share the same aesthetic for abandoned, weathered, and often nostalgic subject focuses. I have a lot of her photos in my room, including a giant print of the pool one above.

When it rains it pours... and then there are dry spells.

This girl has cute photos. What I think is really funny is how every person (and I mean every) goes through their artistic art phase where they need to experiment with photography. It is almost like it is some kind of right of passage that everyone goes through. For some people I think it happens sooner but then there are the late bloomers who think that they have stumbled upon this radically new and untouched creative outlet. This idea was presented in the movie Vickie Christina Barcelona quite hysterically I thought. Scarlet Johanson's character finds a lack of purpose in her rather vapid life so she begins fiddling with a camera and in the dark room, as if somehow she will find answers to all her boggling questions by learning to work a perfectly vintage Leica. Why is it that a photography obsession is the default route of action for a quarter, or maybe an eighth of, life crisis??

Costume Ideas.

I think the cutest Halloween costume for a couple would be Woody Allen and Diane Keaton circa Annie Hall. Other great ideas are Taxi Driver, Travis and Iris. This would include an army jacket, mohawk, hot shorts, and kork-ease. My friend Molly said she was going to be Lolita, which would be AMAZING. Mia Farrow from Rosemary's Baby would be funny. I am posting pictures of people's attempts of that one. My sister went to a party last year where a group of people dressed up as all of the characters from the Shining. The Jack Nicholson character literally had a wood panel around his head with an ax. It was really good, especially when you saw the group together. Of course all my ideas are based on my own personal interests...

Coco Rocha.

She is my favorite model right now. Sometimes she looks stunningly beautiful, sometimes she looks kind of wicked and creepy. I like that about her.

So close.

I have a lot of anxiety about the upcoming election. My greatest desire is that Barack Obama will win the election and finally free us from the dark period we have suffered through. I cried when Kerry lost and I couldn't even vote at the time. I was so frustrated by not being able to express my views four years ago. I am so excited to vote for the first time, not only because I am scared of what might happen to our futures if McCain were to be elected, but because I feel in my heart of hearts that Obama is a truly exceptional candidate. Though some criticize him for his lack of experience, I am actually refreshed by his untainted nature, by his charismatic personality, and his ability to believe that rather seemingly impossible ideas can actually be manifested. He is so eloquent and composed. When he debates, his answers are well rounded, thought out and specifically addressed. I get a genuine feeling from Obama that he actually cares about people, and wants to help them. I can only hope that America feels as passionately about him as I do. What I think is really remarkable is that people are not just considering the candidates' party affiliations as the main reason for liking one or the other, but they are really evaluating what each candidate has to offer and how their views might benefit our country. I have talked to so many Republicans who have always voted for their party's candidate, but they are now realizing that McCain is not what is best for our country right now. Please vote but before you do actually know why you are voting and consider thoroughly which candidate can best ensure that our greatest potential will be reached.
